To stay tuned with the latest news about the conference:
IASDR 2017 Re: Research was the seventh International Congress for IASDR and the first time it had been held in North America. The hosts - College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning at the University of Cincinnati - were able to bring the United States into the design research conversation taking place throughout the world.
During this congress in Brisbane, Australia, we explored the interaction of design research with science, technology and the arts. This continual INTERPLAY provided opportunities to explore interaction between cross-disciplinary knowledge and various design research approaches.
In Tokyo, Japan, with a perspective of developing the cord of interaction between various fields of design, this one week congress featured, among other things, workshops and an exhibition of Japanese design practice. The event was opened in the presence of the Crown Prince. It was envisaged that this great meeting afforded an excellent opportunity to keep up with the trends of international research in design, and at the same time to trail new paths for advancing the development of international researches and practices.
For the Delft congress, contributions were invited from all design disciplines. The event aimed to provide a unique global forum for the presentation and discussion of research into fundamental aspects of design activity and experience across all domains of application, including industrial design, architectural design and planning, different branches of engineering design, software, interaction and media design.
IASDR held its 2009 congress in Seoul, Korea. This was a large, international design research conference with an intensive and high quality program. The hosts brought together top design researchers and practitioners to build and advance knowledge in the field of design.
The 2007 congress was hosted by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. This was a large, international design research conference with an intensive and high quality programme. Keynote speakers included those from other disciplines – the social sciences, computing, and business, for example. Suggestions of multiple paths through the papers helped participants find synergies among people and papers.
The first IASDR congress that followed the successful series of Asian Design Conferences, was hosted by National Yunlin University of Science and Technology in Taiwan, with the theme New Design Paradigms.
